Attorney General Fights The Court Over DCI Boss Kinoti's Prison Sentence.

After Director of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti, was sentenced to serve four months in Kamiti Maximum Prison for Contempt of court, the Attorney General has shown interest in barring the move by the courts.

According to K24 Digital, Kinoti was set to serve his time in Kamiti after failing to return firearms seized from a Kenyan business tycoon, Jimmy Wanjigi.

In defense of Kinoti, Attorney General Kariuki argues that:

1. The claims filed against Kinoti were misdirected because the Firearms Licencing Board is the custodian of firearms.

2. Kariuki also claims that Kinoti has no role in the handling of civilian firearms.

While Kariuki is seeking to have last week’s court orders suspended to pave way for hearing and determination of his request, Kinoti seems to be adamant about his statement that he can't give back what he doesn't own.

Moreover, Kinoti has argued that the firearms nabbed from Wanjigi are banned for use by civilians and only set to be used by the Kenyan Forces.
