The Director of Public Prosecution's office has applied for cancellation of bond given to Joseph Irungu also known as Jowie given by Justice Wakiaga leading to his release from prison. The outcome will be determined by the High Court's ruling set for Tuesday, 28th September, 2021. The court will decide whether it will cancel the bond that had been granted to Jowie following allegations of major suspect in the murder of popular businesswoman Monica Kimani.
According to a post by Citizen television on its Facebook page, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has applied for Jowie’s bond to be cancelled in what is described as allegedly violating the conditions that were issued by the court during his granting of the bond. According to information in the file report, in June of 2021, Jowie is alleged to be involved in a fight at club 1824 in Nairobi’s Lang’ata area. In the process, the murder suspect is accused of assaulting a person named Rodgers Okuga.
