Public gatherings are back! No social distancing, No wearing of masks. The situation in Kiambaa is out of hand as the by-election date nears. UDA and Jubilee are hitting the ground even harder as allies campaign for their party candidates. The supremacy battle between the president and his deputy is again on course. Nyanza region is yet to heal since Kisumu hosted the Madaraka Day celebrations. Covid-19 cases are likely to surge in Naivasha after it hosted WRC.
Kenya is likely to be among the last countries in the world to be Covid-19 free if this trend continues. Covid restrictions have been set, but the lawmakers, led by the president, are the very first people to break these rules. 2022 campaigns have already kicked off. DP Ruto has resumed his weekend tours roaming all over propagating his 'hustler' narrative as he quashes BBI. Covid-19 protocols during burials of prominent people are bent as mourners are allowed to scramble as they seek to meet politicians present during the send-off.
Our leaders need to set an example for all Kenyans. They should be at the forefront in observing the Covid-19 protocols. The 'Chief Hustler' should show the real hustlers that he cares about them. The restrictions are affecting the livelihoods of common Mwananchi. Leaders should abstain from public gatherings and let the country heal! Politics can wait!
