Herbal medicine Leaves Two Family Members Dead, Two Fighting For Life In Hospital

Herbal medicine has been been widely used in the world to cure a range of ailments. Traditional medicine men and women were were informally trained on which type of herbs would be administered to sick patients and would recover fully. Even after the introduction of manufactured drugs, many people have continued to use herbal medicine because they are free from side effects unlike the modern medicine. Many Africans have gone back to the use of traditional foodstuffs and herbs. However,lack of knowledge on the proper use and dosage can be costly to human beings as may result in serious bodily harm or even death.

Tragedy has struck one family in Maliki village, Kwanza, Trans Nzoia County after taking herbal medicine. Two members of the family died and two others are still fighting for their dear lives in hospital. Trans-Nzoia County Commander Fredrick Ochieng confirmed the unfortunate incident that has befell the family. The two members who succumbed were a father and his son and while his two daughters are admitted in Kitale level 4 hospital in critical condition. Neighbours reported that the man had prepared the herbs and shared them with his children before he and his son developed severe stomach complications and died. The bodies of the deceased were transferred to Kitale Hospital mortuary as the security team launched an investigation to establish what could have led to the tragedy.
