COVID-19: Crisis Looming for Kenyans as Doctors Reveal the Real Situation in Hospitals

A covid-19 crisis is looming in the country after doctors revealing that healthcare facilities across the country are overwhelmed with Covid-19 patients and intensive care unit (ICU) beds are almost occupied with patients following the new wave of this pandemic.

In a report by Citizen TV Kenya, doctors from some counties across the country have sounded the alarm for the country to get ready for a crisis following what they termed as "escalation of the pandemic even up to the rural areas" arguing that Kenya might become a red country soon if no quick steps will be taken.

Kenyans have been also advised to take responsibility in ensuring that the Covid-19 health guidelines such as the keeping of social distance, wearing of face masks, and also washing of hands are maintained.

In the last few weeks, Kenya has been recording cases averaging around 1200 daily with a positivity rate of around 15-17 percent, a figure that has made Kenyan doctors worried. On Sunday, Kenya recorded 747 Covid-19 cases from 5145 samples that were tested over a period of 24 hours. Other 17 people died of the disease with the same period of time.

Doctors have also argued that the current wave of this Covid-19 virus is spreading more rampant, a situation that might make the government call for new measures to contain the spread.
