Bungoma County has for the past four months vaccinated a total of 34,931 people,12,774 of which have received both the first and the second dose while 22,151 have only received the first dose.
Bungoma County's ministry of health has officially kicked off mass vaccination exercise for residents above 40 years together with Frontline workers across the county.
Speaking today in his office, Dr Walela has said all Subcounty hospitals are offering vaccination and will soon get down to dispensaries and health centers across the 45 wards.
Dr Walela has also urged residents who took their first dose of the vaccine to return to their stations for the second dose since the county might start using different vaccines starting next week. Astrazeneca Vaccine has been the one issued previously, however other vaccines like Johnson a d Johnson, Modana and Feizer. Bungoma County will next week receive vaccination facilities for Modana Vaccine at the Bungoma County Teaching and Referral hospital before distributing to other facilities in the weeks to follow. This is in a bid to have Bungoma among the top counties to speed up vaccination exercise to it's people as the country looks at modalities to open up the economy before the end of the year.
Bungoma County will be marked as being among the counties to be opened earlier if the number of persons vaccinated rises above 50%.
