Five Counties That Might Need Lockdown Restrictions As Covid-19 Cases Rises(Opinion)

Coronavirus infection began in China in Wuhan City in 2019. It slew thousands of people in China before dissipating to other regions of the world. Presently, data collected on a daily basis by Johns Hopkins University discloses that more than 218,613,680 people have been infected in the world with demises reaching nearly 4.5 million.

Kenya has been struggling to contain the virus. It should be recalled that the initial case was announced in mid-March last year. Since then, the Ministry of Health suggests that 234,589 Kenyans have tested positive from the cumulative tests of 2,358,930.

Yesterday, 363 individuals were confirmed to have contracted the disease, from a sample size of 4,594. The positivity rate reduced to 7.9%. At the same time, casualties rose to 4,710 after 16 more people died from the virus.

In terms of county distributions, Nairobi continues to lead. It was followed by Kiambu, Nakuru, Nyeri and Uasin Gishu are in the top five.

In my viewpoint, the government should impose lockdown restrictions in these five counties to prevent more spread.
