Didier Drogba Appointend World Health Organisation Ambassador

Chelsea and Ivory coast legend Didier Drogba was today announced as the World Health Organisation's ambassador for Sports and Health.

WHO'S director general, Dr. Tedros Adhanom praised Drogba terming him as not only a football legend but also a dedicated advocate for health and sustainable development of communities adding that his support will help curb the spread of no communicable diseases through the promotion of healthy lifestyle including benefits of physical activities and sports for all people.

Didier Drogba's announcement came during the ceremony to launch the "Healthy 2022 World Cup- Creating legacy for Sport and Health." A partnership between Qatar's ministry of Public Health and it's supreme committee for delivery and legacy, WHO and World's football governing body, FIFA.

Drogba now joins other elite ambassadors like Allison Becker, Michael Bloomberg, President of the Born This Way Foundation Cynthia Germonotta and former United Kingdom Prime minister, Gordon Brown. The two time African Footballer of the year has a track record of participating in various health campaigns such as healthy lifestyle, anti-malaria and HIV prevention and control.
