Why Bhang Should Not be Legalized in Kenya

Since the Rastafarian community went to court early this week to seek legalisation of bhang, there have been controversial topics all over the internet. Should Kenyans really consider legalizing bhang? Here are reasons I think Kenyan society should consider before agreeing with the Rastafarian community's request.

The herb and its resin are among the substances that are considered highly addictive. Legalizing it is encouraging the society to costume it which will lead to more addicted people that will need rehabilitation and as country the facilities are not good enough at the moment.

Legalizing bhang will promote the mentality that it has medicinal value. I do not know if you agree with me but most of the people who will be taking it will avoid going to seek medical attention claiming they are already using it.

The highest percentage that consume bhang in Kenya is the youth. Allowing them to continue consuming it will only promote them to become less productive hence putting socio-economic status of the country at risk.

What do you think should it be legalised or not?
