Following the death of veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli who served at Kenya broadcasting corporation (KBC), KTN and even at some point at Royal Media services, the government has announced a massive operation against the disease that took away the journalist's glittering life.
In a statement on social media, ministry of health cabinet secretary Susan Nakhumicha Wafula says the government has had enough of the Cancer menace and a massive operation against it will be launched early next year to all willing kenyans.
The government has invited all kenyans to take part in a massive cancer screening exercise as the ministry of health launches a deliberate campaign to fight the killer disease.
"As we celebrate Kasavuli's life, we are reminded that Kenya's cancer burden is increasing and we must familiarise ourselves with the leading causes of cancer. In early 2023, the ministry of health will conduct mass cancer screening, kindly participate. Rest in peace Kasavuli and condolences to her family," she announced.
The journalist passed on after a battle with the killer cancer disease at the Kenyatta national hospital's private wing.
