Things that may have an impact on your medication

Milk

Certain antibiotics may be more difficult to metabolize if you consume this dairy product. Milk minerals including calcium and magnesium, as well as the protein casein, have a role. If you're taking antibiotics, be sure you know what foods and beverages you shouldn't consume.

Chocolate

Dark chocolate, in particular, can reduce the effectiveness of sedatives and sleep aids like zolpidem tartrate (Ambien). Some stimulant medicines, such as methylphenidate, can also benefit from it (Ritalin). Furthermore, taking an MAO inhibitor, which is used to treat depression, might cause dangerously high blood pressure.

Alcohol

Certain pharmaceuticals, such as blood pressure and cardiac medications, become less effective or even ineffective as a result of this. It can also induce harmful side effects or make others stronger than they should be.

Coffee

It can reduce the effectiveness of antipsychotic medicines like lithium and clozapine while increasing the effects — and negative effects — of others. Aspirin, epinephrine (used to treat severe allergic responses), and albuterol are among them (taken by inhaler for breathing problems). It can also make it more difficult for your body to absorb and utilize iron.
