Peculiar Deposit Fees Kenyans Are Required To Pay Before Getting An ICU Bed In Nairobi's Hospitals

The country is headed to a catastrophic period of the Covid-19 situation is getting uncontrollable with several Kenyans getting infected each and every day.

Intensive Care Units beds are getting full of ill patients who require emergency medical services, which has made other Kenyans wait for those occupying the beds to either die so that they can get a vacant position to get treated on.

With this situation getting out of hand, hospitals have started squeezing out more money from Kenyans due to the desperate state they are in.

According to the Standard, some of the hospitals have asked the patients to fork out at least 650k shillings deposit so that they can get an ICU bed.

Some of the hospitals that demand a deposit fee in Nairobi include; Nairobi Hospital, Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), Nairobi West Hospital and MP Shah Hospital.

MP Shah Hospital is believed to be charging the highest deposit fee as a patient is required to deposit 650,000 shillings before being serviced.

Nairobi Hospital charge between 130-300K, Nairobi West Hospital who's ICU beds are fully occupied charge 300K and The KUTRRH which has 32 ICU beds which are all at full capacity charge 200K.

It is becoming a huge task for Kenyans if they contract the deadly virus, as the enormous amount of money being charged is unaffordable to some Kenyans.

But to avoid all this, we should wear a mask all time, maintain social distance and sanitize always.
