Over 15 percent of people over the age of 15 in the United States, Canada, Nigeria, and Australia have admitted to using cannabis, ranking these nations among the highest in the world for cannabis use.
Cannabis is smoked by the most number of persons per capita in Africa in the country of Nigeria.
According to the findings of a report on tobacco use that was published not long ago by a public health campaign organization and academics from the United States, smoking rates are on the rise not just among young people but also among adults in at least ten nations in Africa.
The report found that even though the population of Africa is getting younger, smoking rates are still rising. This is likely due to the fact that drug use is more prevalent among younger people than it is among older people. In addition, a report on drug usage that was published by the United Nations in 2021 stated that the number of people who take drugs on the African continent is expected to increase by forty percent by the year 2030.
According to the findings of the Global Cannabis Report: 2019 Industry Outlook published by New Frontier Data, the following nations in Africa have the highest per capita consumption of cannabis:
Nigeria - 20.8million people
Ethiopia - 7.1million persons
5.9 million people live in Egypt.
DR Congo - 5million people
Tanzania - 3.6million persons
Kenya - 3.3million persons
Sudan - 2.7million persons
Uganda - 2.6million persons
Madagascar - 2.1million people
Ghana - 2million persons
The continent with the fewest people who use marijuana.
Zimbabwe, Malawi, Niger, and Zambia are the countries in Africa with the lowest number of marijuana users, with 1.1 million, 1.2 million, 1.2 million, and 1.4 million users, respectively.
