10.9% Positivity Rate As The Country Records Few Positive Cases Of 194 Covid19 Cases

Schools is expected to reopen for grade 1-3, class 5-7 and form 1-3 on 10th May for the third term. There is anxiety among the education stakeholders that the president might extend the lockdown which will eventually affect the school reopening.

But according to today's ministry of health report on the positivity rate. The country has recorded 10.9% where 194 people tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Accoording to the World Health Organisation guidelines.Any country that aims to reopen the economy should be recording 5% and below in the consecutive 14 days. But going with today's data, there is hope that the country will continue experiencing few cases before president Uhuru gives his 16th National address.

Mr. Kagwe also reported that 248 more people have recovered from covid 19, bringing total to 106,836.Sadly,21 people succumbed to the virus.

The teacher service commission has encouraged teachers to get vaccinated against the virus. So far, about 123000 teachers have so far been vaccinated. The health ministry said the second jab will arrive in the country by June this year.
