As the world marks Cancer Awareness Month, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Deputy Army Commander Major General Peter Muteti has urged military personnel to conduct regular screening for the prevention of all variants of cancer.
In a ceremony that was held on Friday at the Kahawa Garrison, Maj Gen Peter Muteti warned soldiers that cancer is as dangerous as terrorism and asked soldiers to treat the disease the way they treat terrorism
He reminded those present at the event to be aware of all cancer variants which remain the highest causes of death worldwide.
He wants KDF soldiers to make use of medical responses being organized within the military for them to get screened, and if found with any type of cancer, get early treatment
“We must note that cancer is a fierceness, it is like terrorism, so take your time and take advantage of the medical responses to go for screening that is within KDF. There is a need for every soldier to periodically go for screening for breast, prostate and cervical cancer as we seek behaviours that promote our health”, said Maj Gen Muteti as reported by KDF.
