What would you do if you one day woke up to a video about yourself being referred to as the ugliest woman in the world?
Lizzie Velasquez was only 17 when she stumbled upon a video about herself on YouTube called “The World's Ugliest Woman.” She had a choice either to wallow in sorrows and hate herself or stand up against her bullies and live her life to the fullest despite the criticism.
Lizzie chose the latter and that's how she became a motivational speaker known worldwide. She speaks against bullying and body shaming.
She accepted herself and the world had no choice but to accept her as special as she is. Self acceptance is the first step to a happy life.
Lack of self acceptance leads to esteem issues. This is what leads most people to undergo dangerous plastic surgery procedures to fit in the society's definition of beauty.
Lizzie is 30years old but only weighs 25 kgs. She was born with an extremely rare congenital disease called Marfanoid progeroid lipodystrophy syndrome that, among other symptoms, prevents her from accumulating body fat and gaining weight.
She indeed is a brave heart.
