The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has today, 28 April, sent a crucial guideline to their customers who wish to make premium payment changes.
The hospital insurer started by reminding Kenyans about the deadline for making their monthly payment and later gave a guideline for making yearly payment.
NHIF has noted that the yearly amount for the policy stands at Sh6000 for self-employed people, adding that they can still pay for a period of more than a year, depending on their ability.
Mistake to avoid
However, those wishing to make a lump sum payment, for instance, payment for 3 years, are supposed to pay the amount in bits.
You are not supposed to pay the required Sh18,000 for the three years, instead, make separate payments of Sh6000 each to avoid inconveniences
"For those wishing to pay for more than a year, kindly do so in multiples of KES 6, 000. E.g. If you are paying for three years, make three separate payments of KES 6,000," NHIF stated.
Below is a detailed guideline
"Do you remember the deadline for payment is on the 9th? Kindly pay in time to avoid being inconvenienced.
"You can pay via our partner banks (Equity, KCB, Coop Bank and National Bank of Kenya) or via our M-PESA pay bill number, 200222. Remember to use your National ID as your account number when making payments via M-PESA.
"Do note the monthly amount for the self-employed is KES 500. In case you want to pay for the whole year, it is KES 6, 000," NHIF added.
