Hyperacidity, causes, symptoms, prevention and how it can lead to esophageal cancer if untreated.

Hyperacidity also known as Acid Dyspepsia is a common problem that involves inflammation of the stomach lining that is usually caused by a bacterial infection of other lifestyle habits. The stomach secretes hydrochloric acid that breaks down food particles into their smallest form for easy digestion.

For this reason the stomach environment is very acidic which is beneficial to a person as no germs can survive in such an environment. An excess of this acidity however can cause problems.One common causes of hyperacidity is Hiatal Hernia which occurs when the upper part of the stomach moves above the diaphragm. Other causes include:

*Poor eating habits.

*Erratic meal timing and having a very late dinner.

*Excessive consumption of caffeinated beverages.

*Going to bed soon after eating.

*Smoking and alcohol abuse.

*Eating large meals or lying down immediately after eating a meal.

*Eating certain foods such as citrus, tomato, spicy or fatty food.

*Certain medications.

4.Chronic Sinusitis.

5.Prolonged sour taste in the mouth resulting from stomach acid backing up from the stomach.

6.Ear pain.

7. Dysphagia-the sensation of food stuck in the throat.

8. Unceasing hiccups.

9. Bloody or black stools.

10.Vomiting.

11.Bloating.

12.Abdominal distension.

13.Tiredness.

Some of the ways a person can be prevent Acid Dyspepsia are: avoiding caffeinated beverages, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol consumption, maintaining a proper sleeping pattern, avoiding stress, regularizing meal patterns and timings, eating smaller meals, limit gluten rich foods, Lose weight.

There are some amazing natural home remedies that a person can try and combat hyperacidity such as:

*An Esophageal manometry to check the function and movement of the esophagus.

*An Endoscopy to check for problems in the stomach or esophagus.

*A Biopsy to check for any tissue abnormalities.

Hyperacidity if left untreated for a long time can lead to esophagitis, ulcers, strictures, aspiration pneumonia, Barret's esophagus and esophageal cancer.
