Tuesday, November 30th was a special day for President Uhuru Kenyatta in his political career as he was going to give his last State of The Nation address as the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya. The commander in chief was giving his address as the country continue to revive after the negative effects brought by the Coronavirus pandemic.
As the President was addressing the nation, there was increasing concern about the newly discovered strain of Coronavirus known as Omicron variant which has caused havoc across the globe.
The Omicron variant was discovered by South African scientists who said that is spreading at a high rate compared to the Delta variant. Also, it is reported that it may evade various vaccines that have been developed by top scientists.
Reacting to the new Omicron variant, President Uhuru Kenyatta urged Kenyans to visit their nearest medical facilities to get vaccinated. He said this could be a new way of increasing one immunity against the deadly disease that has claimed the lives of millions of people across the world.
Several countries have suspended their flights from flying to and from South Africa, Botswana, and other countries that have recorded new cases of the Omicron variant. Kenya said all passengers coming from infected countries will undergo mandatory quarantine and tests.
