Today Covid-19 Fatalities And The Number Of Patients In Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Is Worrying

The Department of Health has reported 847 new cases of coronavirus from a sample size of 6,080 tested in the last 24 hours.

Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe said today recovery rate of the virus was 13.9 percent.

The youngest patient in these cases was a five-month-old and the oldest is a 97-year-old.

The total number of confirmed cases is now 196,745 and the number of tests collected so far is 2,087,582.

Kagwe said 722 patients had contracted the disease, 567 from the Home-Based care program and 155 from various health facilities across the country.The total recovery is now at 185,762.

The CS said 11 patients had died due to the disease within the last 24 hours ago.

This now brings the total number of succumb patients to 3,849.

A total of 1,277 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities across the country, and 3,705 are under the Home-Based Isolate and Care program.

In addition, 167 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 35 of them are air-conditioned, and 80 are receiving extra oxygen. 52 patients were monitored.

Another 366 patients are differentiated in terms of extra oxygen and 323 of them in standard wards and 43 in higher Dependency Units (HDU) units.
