Causes of mental illness

it's very difficult to pinpoint what exactly causes the mental disorders. However, there are some general trends about their origin which are as follows;

Depression

it is a proven fact that excessive levels of norpinephrine and dopamine seem to trigger depressive symptoms.

trauma

they are rooted in some past, purely environmental event. Hence avoiding such events is a sure way to prevent these long-lasting problems.

Anxiety

anxiety is your brain's way of reacting to stress and alerting you of potential danger away. Anxiety makes it hard to breathe, sleep, stay still, concentrate.

eating disorders

Disorders such as anorexia seem to have their exclusive origin in cultures and societies where the value of slimness is overestimated, particularly in women. These women are usually body shamed for having weight, causing depression.

schizophrenia

The root of this severe mental illness seems to be genetic.

psychoactive substance abuse

substance abuse has a genetic predisposition. However, the influence of the social environment and parents' example are crucial factors in the onset and course of the problem.
