The Ministry of Health has revealed that 98 people from an 815-person sample contracted COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national positivity rate to 12%.
44 of these are men and 54 are women;The youngest is a child who is just three years old, and the oldest is 81 years old.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, the number of confirmed cases currently stands at 341,460 out of the 3,939,702 cumulative tests that have been performed thus far.
The following is the distribution of the new infections across counties:Nairobi has 22 people, Kilifi has 13, Nakuru has 11, Kitui has 11, Siaya has 6, Nyeri has 5, Kericho has 5, and Kisumu has 4.Busia and Kakamega each reported two cases, while Meru and Narok each reported three cases.
During the time period under review, the disease was only contracted by one person in Mombasa.
According to CS Nakhumicha, 90 patients recovered from the disease during the time period when no fatalities were reported, maintaining a total of 5,684 deaths.
The Health CS stated in a statement, "This pushes the total recoveries to 335,012 of which 281,323 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,689 are from various health facilities across the country."
"Our health facilities currently have 24 patients admitted, and the Home-Based Isolation and Care program has 769 patients.One more patient is in the General Ward and on supplemental oxygen."
