Coronavirus pandemic is still causing havoc and confusion in many countries across the world. Despite mass vaccination campaigns that many nations have adopted, positive cases are still on the rise. Kenya is one of the countries that still fights to contain the third wave of the pandemic.
Today the Ministry of Health announced that 719 people have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. This is after a sample size of 7608 was tested in the last 24 hours. All cases in the country since the first case was announced now stand at 183,603.
The Ministry of Health also confirmed that 9 patients who were hospitalized after testing positive for the virus have lost the battle to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours. The total number of fatalities now stands at 3621.
On the other hand, the Ministry reported that 800 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. 695 of them were discharged from Home based isolation facilities while 105 of them were discharged from various health care facilities across the country.
The country positivity rate now stands at 9.5 percent. This is a drop in positivity rate compared to yesterday's figures which showed the positivity rate standing at 10.6 percent. Kenyans are urged to continue adhering to the Ministry of Health guidelines to lower the positivity rate.
