Kiambu, Kisumu, Migori, Homabay and Siaya Tops the List of HIV/AIDS Infection Among the Youths

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a deadly virus that is spread through having unprotected sex with infected person, blood transfusion, breastfeeding and sharing sharp cutting objects such as needles and razor blades with infected people.

It has been revealed that five counties topped in the list of increased HIV/AIDS infection among the youths. Kisumu, Siaya, Kiambu, Migori and Homa Bay recorded a higher number of HIV infection.

According to the reports, 42% of the infections was recorded among the youths . 34,000 people were infected with the virus in 2020.

The report comes hours after the National Treasury cabinet secretary Ukur Yatani allocated Ksh10.5 billion of the 2021/2022 budget to be used in fighting against the infection of HIV/AIDS. Yatani unveiled the budget yesterday afternoon at the National Assembly buildings in Nairobi.

In conclusion, it's alarming that the Kenyan youths are greatly affected by the deadly disease that has been perceived to have no cure. It's high time when the government should swing into action as soon as possible to salvage the situation.
