Uproar After it Emerged Men And Women Share Hospital Wards With no Privacy at Matungu

The bad situation at Matungu hospital in Kakamega County has come to light after it emerged that both genders did share hospital wards that are actually against medical norms. It is situated 200 meters off Mumias - Busia road at Matungu Junction.

According to information obtained by Nation Africa, the hospital lacks medical equipment and staff members have been complaining of a lack of Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) while there are no separate wards for both men and women.

“We are conducting a few tests because there are no reagents and other supplies required for testing. We are highly exposed and work without any special allowances. We don’t even have dust coats,” said a lab technologist as quoted by the local publication.

It was noted that the hospice has only two clinical officers on standby and its lack of medical oxygen has made fighting coronavirus difficult.

Former MP Justus Murunga was taken to the hospital when he fell sick but due to lack of oxygen cylinders he was rushed to St Mary's Mission Hospital but died on the way before completing the 10km to the medical centre.

Netizens were outraged by the lack of medical facilities in the place and called for the governor and area administration to look into the matter with some emergency. Here are their opinions:
