Countries around the world are fighting to control covid 19 virus. They have employed lockdowns, restrictions of movement in and out of certain regions. Some countries have managed to control the surge of the virus. However, other regions are experiencing serious challenges that are related to covid 19 pandemic.
India is one of the worst hit countries. More than two hundred thousand people had lost their lives to the disease. Although India is the leading producer of Covid 19 vaccines, majority of it's population have not been vaccinated. India if facing resistance from it's citizens. In Jamsoti, a village in state of Uttar Pradesh, most villagers believes that coronavirus spreads only in cities. According to these people, the disease does not exist in villages.
When a team of health workers approached Manju Kol to get vaccinated, she locked up her house and ran to the nearby forest.“I would rather die than take the vaccine,” said Kol. Many people are still reluctant to get the shots. This is a big challenge that may hinder the government's plan to ensure it's citizens development hard immunity as earlier as possible.
India is not alone. Many people across the world are reluctant to get vaccinated because of fear and lack of information on the sefety of the vaccines.
