How to eliminate Bad Breath

The origins of bad breath are not mysterious: dental caries, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, a coated tongue (white or yellow on the tongue, usually due to inflammation) are the most common.

Other causes can include malnutrition, infections like sore throat or sinusitis, or intestinal disorders like heartburn, ulcers, and lactose intolerance also lead to bad breath.

• Gargle with a small cup of acidic lemon juice to kill odor causing bacteria.

• Next, eat some plain, unsweetened yogurt, which contains beneficial lactobacillus bacteria. These probiotics compete with and replace smelly bacteria.

 The lemon / yogurt mixture instantly neutralizes the odor and lasts 12-24 hours.

• Chew on a lemon or orange zest or peel for a refreshing burst of flavor in the mouth. Citric acid will stimulate the salivary glands and fight bad breath.

• Chew a fresh sprig of parsley, basil, mint or cilantro. The chlorophyll of these green plants neutralizes odors

• Chew a handful of cloves, fennel seeds or anise. Their antiseptic qualities help fight the bacteria responsible for halitosis
