First, AIDS is one of the deadliest diseases across the world. AIDS, which stands for acquired immune deficiency syndrome is caused by the human immune deficiency virus (HIV). This article i will highlight the HIV Aids prevalence in Kenya per county or counties in 2020 In other words, we shall list the top Kenya Counties with the Highest HIV Prevalence Rates in 2021. It’s good to note that we also have a high HIV prevalence in Kenya universities.
HIV infection remains incurable at the moment. However, the good news is that it can be controlled by antiretroviral medicines. Furthermore, these medicines are available for free in public hospitals in Kenya. But, many people who are HIV positive continue to die of AIDS partly because of not taking medications. Starting treatment early suppresses HIV and this reduces the risk of progressing to AIDS.
A 2020 to 2021 report by the National AIDS Control Council of Keshowsshow that the HIV prevalence rate in kenya is still alarmingly high several in counties. Further, the National AIDS Control Council 2018 report shows that 4.8% of Kenyans are HIV positive. This translates to about 1.34 million Kenyans who are living with HIV. However, the good news is that HIV prevalence rate in Kenya has dropped significantly since it was 5.9% in 2016.
Additionally, the HIV prevalence rate is 5.2% in females and 4.5% in males. In summary, below are the 10 Kenya Counties with the Highest HIV Prevalence Rates as highlighted in the National AIDS Control Council’s.
Homa Bay County – 19.6%. It ranked as the number 1 county in Kenya with the highest HIV Prevalence in the 2021 PDF list. Kisumu County – 17.5% Siaya County – 15.3% Migori County – 13.3% Busia county - 7.7% Nairobi county -3.8% Vihiga County – 3.4% kitui County – 3.1% Kakamega County – 2.5%. And finally, Kisii – 2.1%.
Additionally, the HIV prevalence rate is 5.2% in females and 4.5% in males. In summary, above are the top Kenya Counties with the Highest HIV Prevalence Rates as highlighted in the National AIDS Control Council’s 2020
