Nyeri county deputy governor who was hosted in one of the leading radio stations reveals that cancer disease is a business benefiting some people.
She further said when people get cancer disease, they begin the whole process of diagnosing the patients and finally offering treatment saying all this process requires hefty money from the pocket of the patient.
The deputy governor went ahead to reveal how NHIF has been used to ensure they are of no use to the cancer patient. Revealing the matter, she said patients are asked to pay a premium fee for Ksh. 18,000 instead of the ksh. 6000 required annually.
She said cancer patients are frustrated to ensure they pay the three-year NHIF premium money for the treatment against cancer to take place.
Talking about Universal Health Coverage, she said when a person is diagnosed with cancer, the UHC should take care of such people. She further said that cancer patients should automatically become members of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to ease them from hefty medical payments.
