Kenya records 1,006 COVID 19 positive cases, 18.0% positivity rate as MOH delivers worrying news.

The rate at which covid 19 is spreading in the country is alarming. Although the President is out of the country for official duty, Kenyans are highly expecting him to come back and give new directives. The countrywide curfew hours are to be adjusted and some counties such as Nairobi, Kiambu, Kilifi and Mombasa need to be put under total lockdown. In the last 24 hours, Kenya has recorded 1,006 positive cases out of 5,584 samples tested and a positivity rate of 18.0% has been recorded.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi maintains the lead with 391, Kiambu 121, Kilifi 87, Kajiado 56, Mombasa 46, Nakuru 42, Uasin Gishu 37, Busia 26, Murang'a 24, Machakos 18, Kericho 14, Nyandarua 13, Taita Taveta 11, Kirinyaga 10, Migori 10, Bungoma 8, Nyeri 8, Lamu 7, Siaya 7, Turkana 7, Laikipia 6, Tana River 6, Nandi 6, Garissa 6, Kitui 5, Baringo 4, Meru 4, Bomet 4, Kisii 3, Embu 3, Kwale 3, Vihiga 3, Kakamega 2, Kisumu 2, Makueni, Narok, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Homa Bay and Isiolo with one case each.

The good news to the Kenyans is that today 261 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 33 patients are from the Home_Based Isolation and Care program while 228 patients are from various health facilities across the country. Unfortunately, 13 succumbed to the disease.
