Kenyans to Brace Themselves for the Worst as President Kenyatta Makes the Following Directives

The country has been able to bring down the positivity rate of Covid 19 infections to below 12 per cent. This has been a very good move towards fighting this disease. The disease has affected many activities including business, movement and learning. It is now one month since the President ordered the closure of all learning institutions and locking down of zoned areas. This move has made Covid 19 numbers go down.

However, today he has issued a report ordering the opening of these counties and further extending the curfew from 8 pm to 10 pm. He has further ordered the opening of schools according to the Ministry of Education calendar. This means that schools are set to open in early to mid-May.

What are the limitations of these directives? First, these directives may increase the number of Covid 19 infections. This is because people will be moving from the zoned areas to other counties. These zoned areas have large numbers of Covid 19 cases and I have the fear that these cases will spread to other counties. All learners are expected in school. Not even a portion of learners. I think you know how the situation will be. Very few schools have the facilities to maintain social distancing. Social distancing in schools is just something impossible, that is logic. Finally, what will parents who are not yet prepared do? Of course, ten days can never be enough for a parent to raise school fees. Can you think about it and share your thought on what directives were supposed to be issued. Covid 19 is not a joke. It kills. On the other hand, we should not also let it paralyse our country. I think we should learn the lesson from India, may God deliver them from whatever they are facing.
