'Cash Cow' Outrage As Tenwek Hospital Passes Harsh New Rules For Patients

Outrage has been witnessed below Tenwek Mission hospital's social media page after the hospital introduced a new set of rules to curb Coronavirus spread. The new rules have been considered a cash cow by the residents most of whom are clients of the hospital. The hospital has ordered that all inpatients and their visitors will be required to undergo COVID-19 tests before admission.

This according to the hospital management will help reduce the spread of the virus amongst the patients and within the hospital ."The Hospital Management is taking strict measures in respect to members of the public accessing the Hospital and in keeping with the Government directive. These measures are intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19," The statement read.

What caught the attention of many is the patient's meeting the costs of the test, the hospital has in the recent past been accused of being changed from the mission hospital they once knew to a private facility where the money comes first. Corruption allegations and unfair treatment of staff have been common in the hospital in the recent past.

'We wish to inform the general public that from Wednesday 12th May 2021, all inpatients will have to undergo the COVID-19 test before admission. NOTE: All persons being tested for COVID-19 will meet their costs," read the letter.
