Healthcare is a very sensitive sector in Kenya. The national government of Kenya made healthcare service free to its citizens so as to reduce mortality rate. Initially when citizens were charged high amount of money in healthcare facilities, many people who could not afford the services died for lack of medical attention. The government decided to take over the healthcare sector so as curb the death rate.
The government is able ensure that all the medical officers meet the required qualifications. Quack doctors and nurses are a great threat to citizens since they might administer treatments which can kill patients. Therefore, all the medical personnel must be qualified and approved.
The government is able to check and control the types of drugs prescribed to patients by medical personnel. Drugs can claim lives of many people if they have not met the required standards, therefore the government of Kenya through drugs and poisons board must approve all the drugs and pronounce them safe for use.
