16 People Quarantined After Dead Kin Tests Positive

16 people believed to be family members have been put under mandatory quarantine after their dead kin tested positive for COVID-19.

The 16 are believed to have come into contact with the deceased.

The patient was identified as Ernest Kosgei and is believed to have been 55 years old.

He was admitted at the Longisa County Referral Hospital on May 4. Apparently he had travelled to Nairobi to get treatment for diabetes.

He however died the following day at around midday.

Allegedly, samples from his body turned positive for the novel coronavirus when they were tested at KEMRI lab Kisumu.

The Ministry of Health was then forced to trace the 16 family members and sent them to Kaplong Girls High School for mandatory quarantine.

However, one person who was in close contact with the deceased is yet to be traced. He allegedly traveled with the patient on the day that he was admitted.
