Mr. Wako died after years of battling diabetes. His death was confirmed by the national Chairman Gitau Kariuki.

Mr. Wako's dedicated servanthood did not stop there as he was able to represent the interests of the members to the Board of Directors. He joined the organization in 2019 as a senior member before he was appointed as the Marsabit regional manager in 2020.
In 2020 he was appointed as the vice president of national coordination of programs and projects and finally as the secretary-general in 2021.
