How Bhang affects your body

Bhang refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the Cannabis sativa plant. The plant contains the mind-altering chemical THC and other similar compounds. People use marijuana through smoking, drinking, eating or inhaling it.

According to national institute of health, ingesting cannabis affects your body in numerous ways: THC affects your ability to form new memories by changing the way, a part of your brain process information leading to impaired judgement. Cannabis smoke contains a mixture of chemicals that can irritate your lungs and bronchioles passages. With continuous use you'll experience a burning throat, a phlegmy cough and bronchitis.

THC suppress your immune system making you more vulnerable to infections. Smoking cannabis causes an immediate increase in your heart rate and expansion of your blood vessels resulting into redness of the eye. It lowers pressure within the eye and can reduce symptoms of glaucoma for a short time. Cannabis temporarily help slow down pain and inflammation in your body. It can also cause hallucinations when taken in high doses.

A study from New Zealand conducted in part by researchers at Duke University showed that people who started smoking marijuana heavily in their teens and had an ongoing marijuana use disorder lost an average of 8 IQ points between ages 13 and 38. The lost mental abilities didn't fully return in those who quit marijuana as adults. Those who started smoking marijuana as adults didn't show notable IQ declines.

In another recent study on twins, those who used marijuana showed a significant decline in general knowledge and in verbal ability between the preteen years and early adulthood. Marijuana use can lead to the development of a substance use disorder, a medical illness in which the person is unable to stop using even though it's causing health and social problems in their life. It's important to know the medical risks of bhang before ingesting it.
