What it Means When Your Second Toe is Longer Than The Bigger Toe

Having a long second toe is not a deformity.

The long bone connected to the second toe is the longest bone in the foot. It’s natural that this toe sometimes sticks out further than the others. This is called the morton toe.

Morton's toe, or Morton's foot, describes the condition where your second toe looks longer than your big toe. It's very common.

Some people just have it and others don't.

In some people, Morton's toe may increase the chances of calluses forming on the sole of your foot and some other foot pains.

Morton's toe does put more pressure on the second toe than the first, which can cause foot pain in some people.

This can lead to excessive pressure under the foot causing painful calluses in the foot. Morton’s toe is also related to hammertoe or claw toe and can lead to agonizing unsightly foot corns on the top of the toe.
