Have you ever wondered why some people still refer to the periods and menstrual cycles as moon cycles? There are many people who are convinced that there is a way of coincidence between the moon phases and women menses. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the inclination that the menstrual cycles and the moon are connected comes from the concept that both a menstrual and moon cycle last 28 days.

Some researches have also discovered that there is relationship between phases of the moon and differences in the extents of melatonin which is a sleep regulating hormone.

There are no one extensive study to support this but small studies from different parts of the world indicate that the full moon can disrupt one’s quality of sleep. A research published in Sleep Medicine journal examined the sleep quality in 319 participants and discovered that during the full moon participants did not get quality sleep.
