Do you Have Recurrent Candidiasis? Here is What you Need to Know About Candidiasis.

Candidiasis is an infection cause by yeast( fungus) of thr genus candida. Candida albicans is the most causative organisms.

It affects both men and women. It women it is also referred to as vaginal yeast, vaginal candidiasis, vulvovaginal candida or candida vaginitis.

If affects different parts of the body I.e the mouth, oesophagus, penis in males and other parts.

Symptoms that suggest you have vaginal candidiasis

1. vaginal itchines and soreness.

2. vaginal discharge which is curdy

3. Pain and discomfort during intercourse.

4. Pain and discomfort when passing urine.

5. Lower abdominal pains.

Risk factors include; pregnancy, use of hormonal contraceptives such as birth control pills, diabetes mellitus, recurrent and prolonged use of antibiotics, weak immune system e.g in people with HIV infection, those on immunosuppressive drugs such as steroids and those on chemothrapy are all at risk of getting candida infection.

How do you prevent candida or yeast infectiion.

•Avoid use of antibiotics if not prescribed. Antibiotics clears the normal flora allowing candida to thrive.

•Use of cotton under wears.

•Good hygiene- avoid douching and use clean and plain water to wash the private area.

•Use of pro-biotics- this a drugs which help to restore the normal flora.
