Hepatitis disease and how it can be managed.

Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver, the liver is a very important organ in the human body that filters the blood, processes nutrients and fights infections among other things. When this vital organ called Liver is inflamed or damaged, then it's functions can be heavily affected. The Liver is found in the right upper area of the abdomen.

What causes Hepatitis?

Toxins, use of alcohol, some medication, some medical conditions among other factors which can cause hepatitis.

Types of Hepatitis

There are 5 main viruses of hepatitis commonly referred to as TYPES A,B,C,D and E. They are of greatest concern to many scientist and medical practitioners due to the burden of illness and death they are causing and a potential for outbreak and epidemic spread if the disease is not handled carefully.

Symptoms of Hepatitis

Commons symptoms are Flu-like symptoms, fatigue, pale stool, dark urine, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, yellow skin and weight loss.

How to prevent hepatitis

Good hygiene is one way of preventing Hepatitis, other ways are; avoiding raw vegetables and fruits, avoiding ice, avoid water that is not boiled, raw or under cooked fish like oysters, shellfish etc, not sharing drug needles, avoid sharing razors, do not touch spilled blood, use of vaccines which are available and not using someone else's toothbrush among other prevention measures put in place.
