With the globe engulfed in getting a lasting solution to the corona virus pandemic, their could be light at the end of the tunnel for another dreaded disease with researchers confirming positive results in the new HIV and AIDS vaccine.
A report published by the European Pharmaceutical review journal, the Scripps Research Institute in California indicate that the vaccine was efficient in producing ninety seven percent of antibodies in participants that got the jab.
This could be a massive leap in th fight against the virus that has claimed the lives of many souls rendering innocent children orphans at a young age.
“We and others postulated many years ago that in order to induce broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs), you must start the process by triggering the right B cells – cells that have special properties giving them the potential to develop into bnAb-secreting cells,” Dr. Schief explained.
The results from the first phase provide hope as the vaccine simulated the production of rare immune cells needed to generate antibodies against the HIV but the vaccine will have to pass the second and the third phases respectively before it is fully approved.
The second phase will involve the expansion of the vaccine to a clinical study where it will be inoculated to a certain group of people while phase three will see the vaccine given to thousands of people to test its efficacy and safety.
