Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infection which affects parts of urinary system, that is, urethra, ureters, bladder and kidneys.
Studies shows that women have higher chances of getting infections than men because of their female anatomy. Some of the common symptoms includes; burning sensation when urinating, cloudy and strong smelling - urine and persistent urge to urinate. The most common urinary tract infections are; cystitis which is caused by Escherichia coli and urethritis which occurs when GI bacteria spreads from anus to urethra.
Here are ways to avoid or control urinary tract infections;
1. Observe and clean genital and anal areas.
Studies recommended that women should wipe or clean genital areas from front to back to minimize risks of infections.
2. Drink Water regularly
This helps to flush out bacteria before it affects your urinary system.
3. Evalute birth control method
Diaphragms and spermicides promotes the growth of bacteria.
4. Take antibiotics. This helps by controlling and killing harmful bacteria.
5. Wear cotton underwear.
There are many other ways to control the infections. It is advisable that one should take caution and observe hygiene.
