The Extortion in Private hospitals in Kenya

In Kenya, most people prefer to be in private hospitals rather than public hospitals. The main reason being alleged unprofessionalism in public hospitals. This has made private hospitals to extort the public.

A lot of money is used for medical consultation, administering of drugs and the use of the medical facilities.

It is shocking to note that some of these hospitals reject NHIF cards and prefer cash payments.

They at times administer unto patients drugs that make them drowsy hence unable to go back home. They are then admitted to the ward for a night stay. This may not be important for the wellbeing of the patient.

A lot of money is therefore accumulated. The staff have a way of keeping their inpatients for long as the medical fees accumulate.

One may at times succumb days later since more focus may be given to incoming patients rather than the current ones.
