Deputy Governor Impresses Residents As He Volunteer To Work As Part-Time Doctor

The Deputy Governor of Nyamira, James Ondochi Gesami, has warmed the hearts of numerous residents after he volunteered to work as part-time doctor.

Gesami announced that he will offer professional medical services at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital once each week. He made the declaration when he went with his boss, Governor Amos Nyaribo, to receive medical equipment worth Ksh26 million from the World Bank.

Gesami, a professional medic, worked for 26 years in the medical field prior to joining politics in 2007 when he was first elected to represent West Mugirango Constituency as a Member of Parliament under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

"As an initiative to be part for the health transformation of our county, I have decided to begin offering services to this facility beginning one week from now."

"I will offer consultancy services to patients and at the same time seek to understand the depth of satisfaction of our people who come for services at the facility," Gesami announced.Gesami is a former student of the University of Nairobi having graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.

The Deputy Governor worked for 30 years as a medic rising through the ranks to turn into the Regional Health Officer responsible for then Nyanza Province.

He pointed out that the county will work closely with Cuban doctors to enhance the medical services.

"Other than motivating youthful professionals, I will do ward rounds as a method of assuring our people that our facility can offer them quality services."

His boss, Governor Nyaribo, was satisfied by the announcement ordering the hospital management to furnish his deputy with professional kits, for example, dust coats.

"Ensure he is well facilitated to offer clinical services effectively," Nyaribo ordered the county's main hospital management.
