How Your Bedroom is Making You Sick

Your bedroom is one of the most important rooms in your house and if you do not keep it in the best condition then you are likely to be sick most of the times. 

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), people spend more than half of their lives in the bedroom and when it is not given the attention it needs it can put you at risk. A dirty bedroom can do you many bad things than just denying you a good sleep when you lie down to sleep. Failing to clean all the important parts of your bedroom can expose you to different allergic reactions and asthmatic conditions.

The one enemy that can destroy your health in the bedroom is dust. The soft bedding in the bedroom can hold a lot of dust if not regularly cleaned. Dust triggers reactions like itching, coughing and sneezing. It is advisable that you vacuum your bedroom twice every week to be in good health. 

If you are one of those people who do not change their bedding weekly, then you need to start practising that. According to the American Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), you should change your blankets, pillowcases and sheets every week as this will help take away the accumulated dirt and sweat. As people sleep there are also bacteria that are left on the bed and regularly cleaning the sheets and pillowcases can get rid of them.

It is also not a good idea to take your phone to the bed before disinfecting. Your mobile phone holds a lot of germs and when you set it on the bed, you end up leaving germs on the bed. Also remember to change the curtains after every two weeks and clean the walls and floor daily.
