The Nairobi Metropolital Service (NMS) is an entity that is tasked with delivery of effective and efficient services on the four transferred functions to citizenry in Nairobi City County.
The functions currently being undertaken by the NMS include the functions of health services, county transport, county planning and development, county public works and firefighting services, and disaster management.
The NMS has been doing exactly that and it has transformed service delivery in Nairobi county.
Recently, the NMS Director General, Major General Mohammed Badi and Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe toured the Lang'ata health centre. The Lang'ata health centre was recently upgraded to a level three health facility.
The NMS Director General, Major General Mohanmed Badi was accompanied to the Lang'ata health centre by the NMS Health Directorate leadership.
During the visit they launched 24 hour operations at the hospital which will also apply to other hospitals within Nairobi county.
This move is aimed at decongesting the Kenyatta National Hospital which is expected to cease offering outpatient services by 1st July, 2021.
In a statement, the NMS said that it will launch 24 hour health service operations in more than 56 hospitals under its jurisdiction. The NMS has in six months constructed 24 level 2 and level 3 hospitals across all 17 constituencies.
