Kalenjin is the largest tribe in Kenya with ten sub-tribes. They are famous known because of their talent of producing the best marathon runners in the world. Mursik in Kalenjin are fermented milk which are prepared by storing them on a traditional guard called "sotet." They are always kept for three days for the fermentation to occur and timely stored milk is considered the best but the delay makes the milk bitter hence not fit for consumption. The guards are often cleaned and adequately prepared by skilled personnel because the guards are delicate and if not properly handled may result to breakage. They are often offered to Kalenjin leaders by elders during inauguration and also it is offered to runners on their home coming as a sign of appreciation of their work done. Mursik has health benefits when it is consumed because it prevent the body of the user from infection by bacteria or germs which causes diseases.
