A public warning against drinking tea at a high temperature was heeded by a significant number of people in Kenya's major regional and local cities.
At this time in 2022, doctors at Tenwek Hospital in the religious county of Bomet gave a very serious warning to the people of Kenya. They said, "Do not drink hot tea. There is a lot of evidence that doing so can cause throat cancer."
In Western Kenya, drinking hot tea is linked to a higher risk of throat and esophageal cancer. Because of this, local doctors warn their patients about the possible side effects of drinking hot tea.
Specialists in the health care field have linked the fact that most people in Western Kenya like to drink hot tea to the worrying rise in the number of cases of throat cancer being reported there.
