More Worrying & Torrid Times For Kenyans As 18 Die Amid Shortage Of Life Saving 200K Per Dose Drug

Kenyans daily expectations of the unlocking of the five marked counties seem to be deteriorating each and every day after the daily updates on Covid-19 situation in the country.

In today's updates, 456 individuals are alleged to have tested positive for the novel virus in a sample size of 4,134 in the last 24 hours, with the positivity rate declining to 11.8 percent.

18 patients have succumbed to the complications of Covid-19, while 490 others have fully recovered from the deadly infection.

However, the worrying news that has been put across by the Ministry of Health is that of the scarcity of a unique Covid-19 drug that was effective in improving chances of survival and reduce the need for mechanical ventilation in Covid-19 patients.

The drug which has been identified as Tocilizumab was developed by a Swiss pharmaceutical company known as Roche goes at 200K shillings per dose, is out of stock in some facilities while top pharmacies don't want to restock because of its high cost.

Kenyans are encouraged to continue following the strict measures of containing the virus as this is the only way we can successfully manage the deadly virus.

Stay home, stay safe and together we will be winners!
