The Vaccines that Do Not Offer Protection Against Omicron

Since the detection of the first case of Omicron infection, several studies are being conducted to see what the latest strain looks like. Omicron is different from the other variants in many ways with the latest studies showing that some vaccines cannot give protection against it. According to the American Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are some vaccines that protected people against the initial strains of the virus. CDC observe that Sinopharm, Sputnik V and Johnson & Johnson do not protect against Omicron. Based on the information provided by the CDC, these vaccines do not have neutralizing action against the new strain.

Other vaccines such as AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer give protection against Omicron but they are not as effective as they are when giving protection against the initial strains. This means that you need to be careful on the vaccines that you are taking. Some of the vaccines may not give you the protection you need.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is currently conducting studies to see how the vaccines can be improved to help. Ineffective vaccines could lead to development of new waves of infection that could cause more danger. There are places where people are not allowed to choose vaccines but you need to be careful and receive a shot that will protect you in the long run. Even as it is you should take the available vaccines to be safe as vaccines prevent most cases of severe illness.
